This letter was sent recently from Iraq to the women who participated in the Vagina Monologues :)
Dear Ellen: I received your email when I was burried in a sea of trouble and confrontations with our misogynist government in Baghdad. Can you believe that a government launches a campaign against a women's organization - when it should have been the other way round.OWFI protested against trafficking of young Iraqi girls to the sheiks of the surrounding countries. We sent our activist to speak on a regional tv station. The station was threatened and eventually stopped the airing in the last hour. OWFI was intimidated and bashed by all governmental stations as "humiliating Iraqi women".I have left Iraq for a break and time out and am able to respond to my emails now.I know I am very late in responding to your wonderful support. It means a lot when it comes from students and universities, especially from a far away country like Costa Rica.**Please thank all who stood in solidarity with us. Tell them that our only support since the war broke out was this kind of support.**All the Best,YanarOrganization of Women's Freedom in Iraq, president OWFIwww.equalityiniraq.com
