i just felt inspired to share about how things are going for us. they are going really very well is what i want to say. i am continually inspired and encouraged through my school, my friends, and red. its so amazing to me to be surrounded by such natural beauty in combination with this academic, philosophical, and even spiritually, political energy.
and of course jared is so happy at el rancho mastatal. he loves it and you cant blame him. the two times i have visited him out there have been fantastic too. its a little sustainable living paradise and he says he is learning quite a lot too. he visits me every 2 or 3 weeks for a week and we can talk by phone every night so the distance (3 hrs) hasn't been bad at all. its a really great thing that we can be so happy independently here. Reason #1298479 that we are an especially good match :)
last night was asian night at my school and it was one of the most memorable yet. so it is tradition at upeace for the students to get together by region and put on a special night of sharing their cultures with the community. last night was asia night and it was soooooo wonderful! all week there were games and booths for doing things like henna, or caligraphy, or trying on a saree. then last night was 3.5 hours of fun including: a fashion show with traditional costumes from many different countries, then a song sung in tagalog with a guitarist from indonesia, a traditional dance from myanmar, traditional dancing from cambodia, wild jubilant indian dancing, and korean drumming, and a huge dance party with all the students afterwards! not to mention heap and heaps and heaps of asian food like dumplings, pad thai, sticky buns, sushi and SO much more!
such a wonderful feeling of community and the people with in it are so creative and interesting! i feel so lucky to be in this place, with these people, with red at my side and with loved ones all over the world.
(hence the name a lot of thanks with a little cheese)
